Land Of The Neon Sun

Written By Margo Price and Jeremy Ivey

She came here from Virginia With no money and her daddy’s old car To the big town and the big time Where the dreamers all work in the bar Where the dreamers all work in the bar So she died her hair And got a fake ID Hoped that they’d never find out her age Selling bottled beers down on Broadway But she’d rather be up on the stage Yeah, she’d rather be up on the stage One of these nights your day is gonna come Living in the land of the neon sun Burning both ends with your new made friends In a lie you like to call love In a lie you like to call love Well she never wasted a single note She always sang from the heart Till a handsome man with dollar sign eyes Said he’s gonna give her a start Said he’s gonna give her a start Though it cost her more than she bargained for She didn’t think she had a choice For a big chance in the spotlight She gave him much more than her voice Yeah, she gave him much more than her voice One of these nights your day is gonna come Living in the land of the neon sun Burning both ends with your new made friends In a lie you like to call love In a lie you like to call love Left for all the trophy shows Everything was going alright But the money went fast and the fame didn’t last But the party kept running all night Yeah the party kept running all night That was me a long time ago Before I had my back up to the wall If I had to do it all over again I’m not sure I’d do it all Yeah, I’m not sure I’d do it at all One of these nights your day is gonna come Living in the land of the neon sun Burning both ends with your new made friends In a lie you like to call love In a lie you like to call love
